Issue #44 - Don't Forget About Grace
Earlier in the week we found ourselves watching a four year old for a few days and it brought back a lot of memories because it's been eight years since we've had a four year old around. While I was sitting in Mass on one of the days, I started trying to remember how I used to get everyone off to Mass every morning...I've put those thoughts into a post that you can read
over at the blog.
We always have to remember that God's grace will be with us as we seek to do His will. For example, if your school year isn't off to a great start and things just don't seem to be going the way you want them to, just stop what you're doing and take some time to reflect on what it is you don't like and find a way to try and fix it. Both you and your kids will survive this break. Trust me, it is better to stop and fix a problem than it is to let it perpetuate. Ask God for His guidance and He will give it to you.
Blessed is She
Also important in our lives as busy moms is to take some mental time out for ourselves. At one point this morning I was trying to go over a writing assignment with my son, discuss the weekly menu with one daughter and answer texts from another daughter about wedding photographers. AGH! I felt like my brain was about to explode!
It is so important to have some time, and even a place, to go to get some quiet. I mean NO.ONE.TALKING kind of quiet. To that end, I just wanted to make sure you've heard about
Blessed is She,
an online community of women who all seek to grow together in the Lord. I signed up for their daily devotion which gets emailed to me every morning. I also bought their planner, which I love! They also have regional Facebook groups and brunches if you are interested in getting together with other women in person. They also just released a personal or small group study guide that you can do over four weeks. It's just a nice way to take some quiet time each day to reflect and grow, so I thought I'd make sure you knew about it.
Don't forget about Mary
On a final note for this week, a friend of mine got involved with a great project and has authored a few meditations for the new book "Every Day with Mary", published by Our Sunday Visitor.
I bought a copy from her the other day and have had a chance to use it over the past few mornings. It is a beautiful little book with a scripture verse, meditation, question to ponder and a prayer for each day of the year. Again, it is short and sweet; giving you just enough to think about but not so much that it overwhelms you.
If you are interested in getting in on something like his, you can get them from her directly for $17.95. All you need to do is to email her at firstname.lastname@example.org. I know she would love to send one to you!
Thanks for reading. Oh, and please pass this on to other homeschoolers you know who might benefit from this newsletter. If they sign up, they'll get a free download of "10 Secrets to a More Joyful Homeschool"; and who couldn't use that??
Have a great weekend!
