Merry Christmastide and a Happy New Year to all of you! I can't believe that it has been since October that I put out a newsletter. I was waiting to put one out until I could make the big announcement...that my book, A Plan for Joy in the Home was ready. Well, that happened right before Christmas and I knew everyone would be busy with their Christmas preparations, so I waited just a wee bit more to send this out to you all.

And what a better time to announce it then the beginning of a new year, when everyone is making resolutions. If one of your resolutions is to have a better plan for your day, then I have the book for you! Be sure to check out the New Product section below.

Also in this newsletter, I want to announce a giveaway! If you're the kind of person who doesn't procrastinate and reads a newsletter very shortly after you receive it, then you'll get to participate in the giveaway I'm announcing in the Homeschoooling Tips section.

As I gear myself up to start schooling again, I hope that you are ready, too! May 2012 be a year of abundant blessings and graces for you and your family.

If you'd like to keep up with all the latest info, you can always follow me on facebook!

    Homeschooling Tips and Ideas

Besides talking to people about how to be better organized, I love to talk about unit studies. I currently only have two unit studies produced, but I'm hoping to complete a third one before the summer time.

Unit studies are a great way to teach multiple age levels at a time. To find out more about the "how to" of unit studies, you can check out my page here.

To start the new year off right, beginning Thursday, January 5th, I will be giving away one free download of my St. Ignatius Unit Study to one lucky winner.

To enter, you just need to visit my blog, Homeschooling with Joy, between 12:01 am Thursday the 5th and 11:59 am Saturday the 7th and follow the directions there. Saturday afternoon I will pick a winner using a random number generator and that person will receive a free download of the unit study.

Hope to see you there over the next couple of days!

    Book Reccomendations

We received a book for Christmas from some good friends of ours and it was a great read. The book, "Heaven is for Real" by Todd Burpo, is a story about an almost four year old boy who got to see Heaven while he was recovering from a life-threatening surgery and infection.

The book is enlightening, entertaining and a quick read. It is not written by a Catholic family, but I liked how they included the statement that, yes, their son did see Mary while he was in Heaven and she was right next to Jesus (right where we would expect her to be :)

This is a very gripping story that everyone in our family really liked, so if you're looking for a good family book, I'd check this one out.

    New Product Announcements

"A Plan for Joy in the Home", my organizing-your-day workbook, is ready and I'm very excited to begin promoting it. It is available for download or in a hard copy form. My personal preference is the hard copy, nicely bound version, but I understand that some people are okay with reading things on the computer.

Remember, the book is all about getting you to pray about, think about and work out what it will take to make you feel more organized and in better control of your day!

Please check it out at its very own website.

I would also appreciate it if you would help me promote it! If you know a friend or family member who needs help in having a more organized, more peaceful day, then please pass the information on to them, too! I think this book will be able to help a lot of people; they just need to know it is out there.

    Our Favorite Recipes

This yummy treat was something we made this year to include in Christmas gifts. They are very rich and creamy.

    2 1/2 pkgs (20 squares) Baker's semi-sweet chocolate, divided
1 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

Melt 8 chocolate squares. Beat cream cheese with mixer until creamy; stir in melted chocolate. Refrigerate until firm.

Shape into balls. Place on a wax-paper covered tray.

Melt remaining chocolate. Use a fork to dip truffles; return to tray. Decorate with peanuts, powdered sugar, sprinkles, etc., then refrigerate for 1 hour. Keep leftovers refrigerated.
